Quinn's Bar - Sold Fake Vodka

Quinn’s Bar 62-64 Main St, Newcastle BT33 0AE, Uk was caught selling fake vodka by the Trading Standards Service (TSS). Acting on a tip the TSS sent an investigator to Quinn’s Off Sales to buy a bottle of Smirnoff (Red No 21) vodka in December 2014. The contents of the bottle were confirmed as counterfeit. TSS officers then bought 5 more bottles all of which proved to be counterfeit in tests confirmed by the maker of Smirnoff (Red No 21) vodka, Diageo. After confirming 6 bottles as being fake vodka, agents moved in and confiscated 21 more bottles that were presented for sale.

The owner of Quinn’s Bar 62-64 Main St, Newcastle BT33 0AE, Uk, was fined £6,000 by Downpatrick Magistrate’s Court after a guilty plea on June 7, 2016. All authorities involved in the case, including the magistrate, noted that the fake vodka that was being sold at Quinn’s was detrimental to the health and well being of customers. The severity of the fine was more than most handed down by the court due to the popularity of the establishment and the amount of fake vodka that was potentially sold from the Off Sales Store and served at the bar.
