TTonic Bar - Dodgy Booze

TTonic Bar 12-14 Vine Pl, Sunderland SR1 3NE, UK was fined £5,000 on June 1, 2015 for selling and possessing dodgy booze. HMRC officers visited TTonic Bar in June of 2014 where they uncovered 39 litres of bottles branded as Glens vodka that were suspicious.Tests performed by Loch Lomond Group, the owners of the Glens Vodka brand confirmed that the contents of those bottles were not authentic Glens Vodka. Along with the 39 liters of Glens Vodka, the agents confiscated 412.3 litres of legitimate Smirnoff Vodka that had fake labels stuck over the top of European labels in an effort to avoid paying taxes.

In Court proceedings the owner of TTonic Bar, Lorraine Griffiths, located at 12-14 Vine Pl, Sunderland SR1 3NE, stated that her supplier was a Chinese man named Mr. Allan. The mysterious supplier was not apprehended by HMRC Agents. The court levied fines of £5,000, with a £240 victim surcharge and £500 costs. They were also ordered to pay £4,775.87 in excise duty to HMRC .
