Adam Dalton Distillery, LLC doing business as Adam Dalton Distillery, 251 Biltmore Ave., Asheville, NC 28801 was cited by the North Carolina Alcoholic Beverage Control Commission on liquor law violation charges of missing tax stamps as well as diluting or tampering with the contents of a container of Alcoholic Beverages.

Missing tax stamps might appear to be an administrative economic charge; however, this charge goes to the heart of liquor control. The origins of liquor bottles with missing tax stamps immediately come into question. It is important for liquor, as a controlled substance, to be traceable by not only authorities for tax collection purposes but also the integrity and authenticity of the bottles.

Adam Dalton Distillery, 251 Biltmore Ave., Asheville, NC 28801 is listed as a micro-distiller which produces 2500 gallons of liquor per year. Their status as a micro-distiller makes their second charge of diluting or tampering with the contents of a container of Alcoholic Beverages not only more serious for the NCABC but also for consumers. Tampering with the integrity of the contents of liquor bottles can lead to tainted liquor.

Adam Dalton Distillery, LLC did not present a defense to the North Carolina Alcoholic Beverage Control Commission but rather accepted an offer in comprise consisting of a 12-day liquor license suspension which was suspended upon the payment of $1200 to the NCABC.
